“What in the h…?” Ray breathed.
“Hush,” demanded Gertrude as she began translating the animal's squeaks.
"A monster grabbed Little Elizabeth and dragged her underwater. Gilbert went after her. Some of the others tried to follow, but they couldn’t get through."
Pausing with eyes wide, she breathed, "Oh my God."
Ray stood watching her for a moment, then burst out, "Wha -- What?! What does that mean?!"
