Kiddo looked back to see what had scared the monsters away and put on a burst of speed. She tried to turn and swim in another direction when she saw the shark shaped shadow, but swimming as best she could with her hands tied, was not fast enough. As the shadowy shape got closer she could see that it was not a shark at all, as she had feared, but the biggest and ugliest fish she had ever seen emerging from the darkness. There was a large gold koi fish swimming with it. A koi fish from Greatgramma's garden!
